Near Death Experience (NDE)

Near Death Experiences

A near-death experience (NDE) refers to personal experiences associated with impending death, encompassing multiple possible sensations including detachment from the body, feelings of levitation, total serenity, security, warmth, the experience of absolute dissolution, and the presence of a light. These phenomena are usually reported after an individual has been pronounced clinically dead or has been very close to death.

Near Death Deceptions

Question: “Hello, I have a question about your position on near death experiences. I know you take the side of outside the church there is no salvation, but what about these people who are clinically dead and say that they saw family and friends in heaven while they were dead? I know many of these people weren’t Catholic, but they say they were in heaven for a period of time and their Non-Catholic family were there as well...”

Answer: Most of the near death experiences (as we will see) are false, deceptions of the Devil. The purpose is to convince people of universal salvation (that those outside the Catholic Church can be saved (which is heresy)).

Question: “Dear Brothers, I’ve been studying near death experiences (NDE’s) for quite sometime now and they all seem to have one thing in common, everyone goes to heaven. It doesn’t matter if you are Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, or even atheist. As long as you are basically a good person, you’re in! Can you please comment on this?...”

Answer: The experiences are deceptions. Therefore, it’s not surprising that they consistently contain a false message which the Devil wants people to accept. In fact, almost all of them include people hearing a noise, then seeing light, and being happy. It’s the lie on salvation that the Devil wants them to accept and, most importantly, spread to others.

So, many of these near death experiences are deceptions from the devil wanting people to embrace false religions outside the Catholic faith.

See: No Salvation Outside the Catholic Church

One of the most common characteristics of the so-called near-death experience is encountering a being of light. This being is said to emanate love and warmth.

It has been claimed by numerous (not all) individuals who have had alleged near-death experiences that the being of light they encountered was none other than Jesus Christ. As appealing as the idea may initially sound, this identification seems to be flawed in view of the fact that the so-called being of light typically says and does things contrary to the Christ of the Bible. Since Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), it would be impossible that these are one and the same Jesus. We definitely believe that many of the individuals who go through near-death experiences actually encounter a counterfeit Christ.

The “Jesus” (or other beings of light) typically encountered in near-death experiences teaches such things as:

  • Sin is not a problem. In fact, this “Jesus” or other light beings often responds to human sin and shortcomings with humor or total disregard.

  • To “love” and learning to “love” is all that matters in most of these Near Death Experiences.

  • There is no hell to worry about.

  • All people are welcome to heaven, regardless of whether one has the Catholic faith or has placed faith in Christ.

  • All religions are equally valid.

In view of the fact that these ideas clearly go against what the biblical Jesus taught, I think we have infallible proof to conclude that this “Jesus” or light beings is in fact a lying spirit.

John 8:44: “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.”

We must remember that Satan has the ability to appear as an “angel of light” and as a “servant of righteousness.”

2 Corinthians 11:14-15: “And no wonder: for Satan himself transformeth himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers be transformed as the ministers of justice, whose end shall be according to their works.”

His goal, of course, is to lead people astray. He is happy to mimic a being of light if the end result is that he can lead people away from the true biblical Catholic faith of Christ and of Scripture.

See: The Bible Proves the Teachings of the Catholic Church

Consistent with the above is the fact that many who have had near-death experiences come out of the experience with a lower view of Scripture. One person concluded that “the Lord isn’t interested in theology,” and another said that God “didn’t care about church doctrine at all.” The true Christ of Scripture, however, is most certainly interested in correct doctrine.

John 8:31-32: “Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Now, other individuals—particularly individuals affiliated with non-Christian religions—claim that the being of light was Buddha, or Krishna, or some other leader of a particular world religion. Certainly this should raise “red flags” in the minds of Christians. Satan, the great counterfeiter, is seeking to keep people of ALL religions away from the true Christ of the Bible.

Examples of Heresy in Near Death Experiences

NDE Question: Who goes to Heaven?

NDE Answer: “In the end … believe it or not (sigh of relief), everyone gets to come home! Heaven is a place of ultimate LOVE. When we have learned how to become individuals that base our entire existence and consciousness around manifesting LOVE, we then become capable of entering the domain of the higher Realms of Heaven. If we do not practice Love, we can only go so far and we will be made to incarnate somewhere out there in God’s super Universe again and again (unlimited times) until we learn.”

As we can see, “everyone” goes to heaven according to this satanic Near Death Experience. But not only that, we can also have an “unlimited” amount of time or chances in order to be saved and “get it right” and we will even be reincarnated again and again “until we learn to love”. But what is this so-called “love” commonly promoted in these NDE’s? It is a love for man and sin! such as “loving”, accepting and “respecting” homosexuals and their perverted, sinful and condemned lifestyle! (as we shall see further on). This is essentially the only “requirement” in order to be saved in most of these satanic Near Death Experience’s. Just “love”, and no matter how evil you are otherwise, if you just learn to “love”, you will be saved in the end.

It was Jesus who said: “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Yet obeying God and keeping his commandments (which is what love of God is and which is required above all else in order to be saved and enjoy Him forever) and converting to the Catholic faith for salvation, are always ignored and neglected in these satanic NDE’s. That’s precisely because these kinds of NDE’s are satanic and satanical lies from the Devil.

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, “Cantate Domino,” 1441, ex cathedra (infallible statement from the chair of Peter): “The Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives; that the unity of this ecclesiastical body is of such importance that only for those who abide in it do the Church’s sacraments contribute to salvation and do fasts, almsgiving and other works of piety and practices of the Christian militia produce eternal rewards; and that nobody can be saved, no matter how much he has given away in alms and even if he has shed blood in the name of Christ, unless he has persevered in the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church.”

NDE Question: Did God share with you what your purpose is in this life?

NDE Answer: “Yes. … I was shown an innumerable amount of scenes, all containing possible realities I would eventually experience. I was shown many Universes and worlds that had organizational life on them. I saw that everyone in every Universe is simultaneously working together to fulfill God’s great Divine plan. … I was amazed to see how each of us is connected eternally, that we have always existed, and that we will never die. … A day will come (in a time not so far away) when all of our Light(s) [spirits] will have become so large that we will merge and go back to the Creator and be as ONE — just as we were in the beginning. Once we are ONE again, there will be a great celebration. And after a certain amount of time has passed, yet again, there will be another great explosion, only this time it will be much bigger and the process of Creation will be far more advanced.”

According to this satanic NDE, after everyone has become one with God “in a time not so far away” “as we were in the beginning” in which every spirit is saved and ultimately “will merge and go back to the Creator” in all the “many Universes and worlds that had organizational life on them”, “there will be another great explosion” or “big bang” and the “process of creation will be” repeated once again and “be far more advanced”.

Well, I could expect these words to come out of a New Ager’s and a Star Trek fan’s mouth, not from a supposed “God given vision.”

This NDE also repeated the condemned heresy that “we have always existed” (Pre-existence).

The fifth ecumenical council (Second Council of Constantinople) in 553 A.D. said the following concerning the pre-existence of souls:

If anyone asserts the fabulous pre-existence of souls, and shall assert the monstrous restoration which follows from it: let him be anathema.” (Quoted in Nicene Fathers, "The Seven Ecumenical Councils of the Unvidided Church", p. 318)

The Synod of Constantinople dealt with the teachings of Origen, who stated that human souls existed before birth (Pre-existence) (just as this satanic NDE also teaches that human souls or spirits existed before birth by having “always existed”). Origen concluded that all souls will be restored in the end (just as this satanic NDE also teaches that all souls will be restored in the end). Also the devil will be saved in the end. His teaching was condemned as heretical.

NDE Question: What about sexually diverse people?

NDE Answer: “If this world was to ever find out just a small amount of what sexually diverse (gay) people are here to do on this planet, there would never be one single wisecrack or hurtful remark made ever again. Instead there would be great respect! People who speak disrespectful things about people of this orientation … enact judgment, and do so from a place of unenlightenment, insecurity, ego and socially induced prejudice. Some may use mistranslated scriptures taught to them, not by the Holy Spirit … but by fear-filled human beings. Many will choose to sustain a Divinely unsupported satanic hate-based rage against these children of God, rather than using Love to bring understanding and healing between both peoples. Christ said, THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT IS THAT WE ARE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER! When people sling condemnation, judgment and bitterness at others, they are not practicing the great commandment. They are allowing their Souls to fall into darkness.

“My lady guide walked me to a room that had a large screen in it. On the screen, I saw two forms of Light conjoining with one another in the act of making Love. My guide then asked me to tell her which was the male and which was the female? I said, “I dunno!” She smiled at me and said it does not matter. She went on to say that the two Lights were what God saw when he looked upon us. She explained that God always sees us as our higher selves and that gender is a very temporary thing that will not be around forever. It was further explained to me that God himself is both a Mother essence and a Father essence to us, therefore; God fully understands our attractions for members of similar genders. It was told to me (or rather I was reminded) that there are no mistakes in the way each of us were made. God knew what each of us would be challenged and blessed with. We each act according to our heart (or developed Soul center) and as we mature Spiritually, we come up higher each time.”

This is blatantly heretical and satanic.

First of all, gay people are not “made” gay as this message seems to indicate: “what sexually diverse (gay) people are here to do on this planet”. Rather, people become homosexual because of idolatry apostasy and mortal sin. See Romans chapter 1.

Romans 1:26-27: “For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.”

Second. The NDE says that gay people are here on this earth for a purpose and that if we understood what they were here “to do on this planet... there would be great respect.”

It is heresy to show respect or esteem for mortally sinful behavior or approve of abominable, unnatural practices. The Catholic Church based on Sacred Scripture infallibly teaches that homosexuals are condemned, rejected and disrespected; and that they must be converted from their homosexuality and embrace the Catholic faith for salvation and approval.

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, Bull Cantate Domino, 1442, ex cathedra: “… it [the Holy Roman Church] condemns, rejects, anathematizes and declares to be outside the Body of Christ, which is the Church, whoever holds opposing or contrary views.”

Third. When being asked by the “Spirit Guide” about “two forms of Light conjoining with one another in the act of making Love... which was the male and which was the female”, the “spirit guide” told the person in the NDE that, “it does not matter”, thus indicating quite clearly that it does not matter whether one is having heterosexual or homosexual relations and that that “the two Lights were what God saw when he looked upon us.” This is total heresy and blasphemy. It also makes a total mockery of the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony.

The NDE also said (in context of homosexual people) that “God fully understands our attractions for members of similar genders.” This is heresy and blasphemy. 1 Corinthians 6:9 explicitly teaches that homosexuals are rejected from the Kingdom of God and Romans 1:32 teaches that “not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them… are worthy of death.” That means they are rejected and condemned.

Romans 1 clearly teaches that because these persons “worshipped and served the creature rather than the creator” and “changed the truth of God into a lie” God gave them up to homosexuality, which is described as a SHAMEFUL AFFECTION. Further, Romans 1 clearly teaches that homosexuality is “against nature,” which means that this orientation is foreign to man’s nature, that is, it is NOT INSTILLED BY GOD.

The Bible and nature consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of idolatry and denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

By the way, people can be delivered from homosexuality by the grace of God.

See: Homosexuality and Overcoming Homosexuality

Fourth. The satanic message further said that “Some may use mistranslated scriptures taught to them, not by the Holy Spirit” in order to “speak disrespectful things about people of this [homosexual] orientation … enact judgment, and do so from a place of unenlightenment, insecurity, ego and socially induced prejudice.”

It is heresy and blasphemy to assert that God’s Holy and infallible Word condemning sin and homosexuality is mistranslated or not from the Holy Spirit.

Based upon Sacred Scripture, which is infallible and divinely revealed by direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Church has always taught that those who practice homosexuality, and have a homosexual orientation are condemned, judged and rejected.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10: “Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, Nor the effeminate, nor sodomites [homosexuals], nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall possess the kingdom of God.”

Romans 1:32: “Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.”

So not only the people who are homosexuals are worthy of death, but also those who promote this sinful lifestyle! So this is a clear warning that homosexuals are judged and that they will be judged.

Pope St. Pius V, Horrendum Illud Scelus, August 30, 1568: “We establish that any priest or member of the clergy, either secular or regular, who commits such an execrable crime, by force of the present law be deprived of every clerical privilege, of every post, dignity and ecclesiastical benefit, and having been degraded by an ecclesiastical judge, let him be immediately delivered to the secular authority to be put to death, as mandated by law as the fitting punishment for laymen who have sunk into this abyss.” (In Bullarium Romanum, Rome: Typographia Reverendae Camerae Apostolicae, Mainardi, 1738, chap. 3, p. 33)

The NDE’s position is totally heretical. It constitutes a new false Gospel.

Galatians 1:8-9: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema.”

Fifth. The message said (in context of loving and respecting and not judging homosexuals): “THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT IS THAT WE ARE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER!” This is not true. The greatest commandment is not that we love one another, but that we love God first of all and above all else. Loving neighbor only comes second. Keep that in mind.

Matthew 22:36-40: “Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law? Jesus said to him: THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH THY WHOLE HEART, AND WITH THY WHOLE SOUL, AND WITH THY WHOLE MIND. THIS IS THE GREATEST AND THE FIRST COMMANDMENT. And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments dependeth the whole law and the prophets.”

Of course we are to love one another. But true love for one’s neighbour means above all else to show respect and charity for his soul, such as by condemning and reproving any possible sin that he may be committing, and by instructing his eternal soul so that he can have a chance of reaching Heaven and be united with God forever. It does him no good at all if we only show so-called “love” towards his physical body and fleshly feelings, while we neglect and kill his eternal soul. “For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?” (Mark 8:36)

James 5:20: “He must know that he who causeth a sinner to be converted from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.”

Hence, without this true charity for God, His Commandments and our neighbour’s SPIRITUAL and bodily needs, there can be no true love, but only a false love based on human love, feelings and accursed human respect and approval (such as the kind of “love” described in the satanic NDE).

Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum (# 13), June 29, 1896: “Therefore if a man does not want to be, or to be called, a heretic, let him not strive to please this or that manbut let him hasten before all things to be in communion with the Roman See.”

So in order not to be called a heretic, one must not strive to please this or that man in false doctrines or teachings contrary to the Catholic faith.

John 8:51: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”

Those who keep His words, not just believe or “love”, will not see death (i.e., Hell).

Matthew 19:16-21: “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments... and come and follow me.”

So to the question of what he must do to be saved, Jesus says one must keep the commandments and follow Him.

NDE Question: What about Hell?; What about a place of burning fire?

NDE Answer: “There is a place called “the Death Shadowed Valley,” where some Souls may choose to go to if they feel too afraid, guilty or shameful to approach Heaven or God. This is an in-between place or dimension that separates Souls from this world and the next. ... And as I have discussed before … being caught in this type of situation is a very difficult process to endure and can cause problems for both the living and the dead. However each of us has the ability to call out to God or to Christ … and immediately … we will be taken home to Heaven. Or we (the living) can pray and call out to God to send his Angels to come and take others home. It is important for us to understand that we each send ourselves to the places our Soul believes it most belongs. We do that now here on planet Earth. Those stuck in addiction, lust, bitterness and hate — these are the ones truly in hell. But the moment we choose Love, we can get ourselves out. God never sends us anywhere we do not wish to stay. We have totally misunderstood the concept of hell on this planet.”

“I do know of a place in the deep regions of the Realm where I saw great caverns of electrical blue fire. However, I understood that this place was for the purpose of Loving purification. God would never send his precious creatures to a place to be burned or harmed. It is completely contrary to our Creator’s nature.”

The NDE’s position on Hell is totally heretical. It constitutes a new false Gospel. It is of faith that there is a Hell and that people will go there (and stay) of their own choosing – even if they ultimately will regret this decision and their bad life that got them there.

Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, “Letentur coeli,” Sess. 6, July 6, 1439, ex cathedra: “We define also that… the souls of those who depart this life in actual mortal sin, or in original sin alone, go straightaway to hell, but to undergo punishments of different kinds.” (Denz. 693)

Regardless of whether it rubs uncomfortably against human reason, the Bible teaches that the unsaved must endure eternal conscious torment. Proof for this is found in Matthew 25:46, in which eternal life is compared to eternal punishment in duration and state. “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous unto life eternal.”

The Purgatorial punishments can end because they are actually equivalent to loving discipline meant for our greater good. They are purifying punishments meant for God’s friends—for those who died in state of grace but without fully satisfying for their sins in this life. They are meant to make a person worthy to enter Heaven after being purified, just like gold is purified in the fire, ultimately to end in a greater and lasting happiness and reward, not to make him experience a real and lasting condition of unhappiness that are due only to the damned. Thus, they are not punishments of the same category as vindictive punishments which God inflicts on those who die in mortal sin and with a will to be eternally separated from Him.

See: The Bible teaches Purgatory

So there is no “in-between place or dimension that separates Souls from this world and the next” as this NDE is advocating. There is a Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory. That’s it. There is no in-between place where “some Souls choose to go to if they feel too afraid, guilty or shameful to approach Heaven or God” since according to the dogmatic Council of Florence, “the souls of those who depart this life in actual mortal sin, or in original sin alone, go straightaway to hell,” hence after one dies, one is immediately judged. This is also the answer to Question 416 of the Baltimore Catechism (A.D. 1885), a work in the public domain.

The Catholic doctrine of the particular judgment is this: that immediately after death the eternal destiny of each separated soul is decided by the just judgment of God. Although there has been no formal definition on this point, the dogma is clearly implied in the Union Decree of Pope Eugene IV (1439), which declares that souls leaving their bodies in a state of grace, but in need of purification are cleansed in Purgatory, whereas souls that are perfectly pure are at once admitted to the beatific vision of the Godhead (ipsum Deum unum et trinum) and those who depart in actual mortal sin, or merely with original sin, are at once consigned to eternal punishment, the quality of which corresponds to their sin (paenis tamen disparibus). The doctrine is also in the profession of faith of Michael Palaeologus in 1274, in the Bull "Benedictus Deus" of Benedict XII, in 1336, and in the professions of faith of Gregory XIII and Benedict XIV.
